Introducing your first dose of #MondayMotivation! Here at The Student Wordsmith, we know that Mondays can sometimes be difficult – but what better way to start your week than reading some motivational writing and publishing stories?
“The world’s greatest achievers have been those who have always stayed focussed on their goals and have been consistent in their efforts.” – Roupleen, Author of Principles of Success Made Easy
Unfortunately, in the world of publishing and writing, success doesn’t always come instantly – just take J.K. Rowling as an example: the original Harry Potter manuscript was rejected a whopping 12 times by a range of different publishing houses. Yet, due to her focus and ‘consistent efforts’, she is now a world-famous writer and Harry Potter has become a household name.
Setbacks like the above are not confined to aspiring authors either – many students face the same challenges. I, for example, am lucky enough to have undertaken a range of publishing placements – however, this again did not always happen easily or instantly. When enquiring about work experience and approaching different organisations, I was met with many rejections and many unanswered emails. It was disheartening, but I had my goal in sight and carried on trying, improving my CV and approaching places I hadn’t before considered until I was able to secure an internship.
To quote Stephen King: “The scariest moment is always just before you start” – the most important piece of motivational advice regarding writing is exactly this: start. We all have to start somewhere – set your goals, keep focused and most importantly have fun with your efforts!
There you have it. A snippet of motivation to brighten up your Monday morning. Keep an eye out for our upcoming ‘Top Three’ series posts too – they are full of writing tips and tricks to compliment a motivated mindset!
